Our Services
We specialize exclusively in Weed Control and Fertilization. Discover how our 8-step program combines precise timing and expert treatments to manage weeds and keep your lawn healthy, lush, and vibrant throughout the year.
Annual Program: 8 Custom Applications Per Year
(1) Pre-Emergent
We apply a round of pre-emergent chemicals at the beginning of the year to prevent warm season weeds from germinating in the Spring.
(2) Fertilize
A custom blend, slow-release fertilizer is applied to strengthen root systems coming out of Winter dormancy. The controlled release of nitrogen keeps your lawn consistently green for several months without the risk of rapid growth surges.
(3) Pre- & Post-Emergent
This treatment targets any early Spring weeds that may have broken through, while also adding another protective barrier against new weeds. It keeps your lawn clean and ready for vigorous growth.
(4) Fertilize
We apply another round of a custom blend, slow-release fertilizer, giving your lawn a steady supply of nutrients to maintain color, density, and resilience during the heat of Summer. This helps your grass stay green and healthy without burning out.
(5) Post-Emergent
Summer weeds can be aggressive, so this application focuses on eliminating broadleaf and grassy weeds that are actively growing, keeping your lawn uniform and weed-free.
(6) Pre- & Post-Emergent
This is the first step of our “Dual Defense” approach. Research with the State of Mississippi has proven that splitting Fall applications is the most effective way to control Poa Annua (Annual Bluegrass). This round prevents new weeds from sprouting while eliminating any that are already visible.
(7) Pre-Emergent
The second part of our Dual Defense strategy reinforces the protective barrier against cool-season weeds. By treating Poa Annua twice in split applications, we greatly reduce breakthrough compared to a single treatment, keeping your lawn cleaner through Fall and Winter.
(8) Limestone
A limestone application is applied to balance your soil’s pH. Mississippi soils often become acidic due to repeated fertilizer use, which reduces how effectively your lawn can absorb nutrients. Limestone raises the pH, restoring balance so fertilizers work properly and your lawn can thrive the following year.
Weed Control & Fertilization 101:
Warm vs. Cool Season Weeds in Mississippi
Weeds behave differently depending on the time of year and the type of grass you have. Understanding which weeds appear and when allows us to schedule applications that target the right problems at the right time, keeping your lawn healthy and minimizing stress on the grass.
Warm-Season
Warm-season weeds sprout in late Winter to early Spring and thrive in hot weather but usually die off naturally when it gets cool. Applying a pre-emergent before Spring is critical to prevent pesky weeds like crabgrass from germinating. By contrast, certain post-emergent treatments are usually unnecessary in late Summer, since weeds like crabgrass will die on their own.
Examples of warm-season weeds include:
- Crabgrass
- Goosegrass
- Dallisgrass
- Nutsedge
- Bahaiagrass
- Doveweed
- Virginia Buttonweed
- Spurge
- Wild Garlic/Onion
Cool-Season
Cool-season weeds like Poa Annua germinate in late Summer to early Fall and grow through Winter and early Spring. Some, like Poa Annua, have become increasingly difficult to control, which is why we use a Dual Defense split pre-emergent approach. Two carefully timed applications provide the best protection, targeting emerging seeds and preventing new growth for a healthier, weed-managed lawn.
Examples of cool-season weeds include:
- Poa Annua (Annual Bluegrass)
- Chickweed
- Henbit
- Geranium
- Dandelion
- Clover
- Buttercup
Understanding Pre- & Post-Emergent Treatments
Think you can control weeds by pulling them? Thing Again!
Fun Fact: 1 square foot of soil just 6" deep can contain up to 13,000 seeds of weeds.
Not all weeds are created equal, and controlling them starts with knowing the difference between pre- and post-emergent applications. Pre-emergent treatments are applied before weeds germinate. They form a protective barrier in the soil that prevents seeds from sprouting, which is especially important in the early Spring and late Summer when most weeds are starting their growth cycle. Post-emergent treatments, on the other hand, target weeds that are already growing. They allow us to eliminate visible weeds effectively without disturbing the surrounding grass. Using both in a season-long program ensures your lawn is protected from weeds before they even appear and treated if any break through.
Fertilizer, Limestone, and Soil pH:
Building a Strong Lawn
A healthy lawn isn’t just about cutting weeds — it’s about giving grass the nutrients it needs to THRIVE. We use a custom blend, slow-release fertilizer to provide a steady supply of nitrogen and other essential nutrients over several months. This encourages deep root growth, vibrant color, and long-term resilience.
Equally important is soil pH, which affects how well your lawn can absorb these nutrients. Mississippi soils often become slightly acidic over time, which can reduce fertilizer effectiveness. That’s why we include a limestone application in our program. Limestone raises soil pH to the optimal range, ensuring your grass can fully utilize the nutrients we apply and maintain strong, healthy growth year-round.
